Hi, we’re Renewed Horizons

Renewed Horizons is a service that seeks to empower and assist economically inactive people from marginalized and underserved backgrounds to achieve employment and independence. We seek to combine the dynamic approach of a recruitment consultant with the care and attention of a social enterprise.

We aim to take a holistic and trauma informed approach to our service users status by acknowledging the damage that long term unemployment can cause to a persons self-esteem and mental health. We understand that extended periods of perceived rejection can negatively affect people so rebuilding confidence would be a vital part of our service. We will do this by taking our time and bringing the community together with guest speakers, training sessions with local companies and eventually having our previous success comeback to act as mentors and sponsors.

Our service makes a real tangible impact on someone’s journey. From unemployment to employment, we work 1-1 with jobseekers to address the hurdles they have faced then take a direct approach to get them into interviews, trials and work.

Earlier this year we launched as successful employment based Pilot Scheme with the British Red Cross.

Pilot – Re-Empowerment session

This would consist of 10–15-minute sit down 1-1 with a diverse group across the community. The aim

is to listen to their experiences, find out why they think they are struggling, what hurdles they have

faced and followed by a brief CV review. I would then offer to make and e-mail a short action plan to

them and their work coach/support worker. This being an alternative to the traditional 1 hour job

club format and allows for a more tailored, assertive service.

I would like these short meetings to aid in dispelling any negative self-image they may have

developed whilst unemployed or in crisis and to re-inspire aspiration in people who may have lost it. I

would reinvigorate their job search by providing a sensible evaluation and making them feel like they

are not "failing" and that with a focused plan of action they could find job opportunities in the local

area.

This will hopefully have a boost on their mental health and give them belief in the service Renewed

Horizons provides. Additionally, the hope is that this Pilot will allow me to show how effective this

service is for potential joint projects in the future.

In effect this is a taster for potential service user’s as well as our potential partners.

Preston City Council Asylum Seeker Employment Support and Advocacy

Asylum Seeker Support and Advocacy

Providing Employment and employability support requires a 1-1 services that treats individuals as people, not numbers or headlines. We understand that asylum seekers are often viewed through the lens of their circumstances—statistics or political debates. But we believe that behind every asylum seeker is a person with aspirations, skills, and a deep desire to contribute to the community that has offered them refuge. We focus on humanizing the process through a trauma informed approach, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their past, is seen, heard, and respected.

Renewed Horizons has transformed my journey in Preston. Their dedicated team provided invaluable guidance and support as I sought employment. I felt understood and respected throughout the process. With their help, I gained confidence and found meaningful work. I am truly grateful for their commitment to helping people like me.
